My name is Tania Lloyd and i have lived in Spain for the past two years, I am married with two children and at present live in Alhaurin el Grande. In England I was a district nurse in the community for 9 years. I loved being able to help people on a more personal level, becoming part of their lives and the community. Whilst in Spain I have always traveled to the coast to find work. Jacci and I met and felt that that there was something lacking for people who lived inland. On the coast there are plenty of nursing agencies and nursing homes, but inland there doesn't appear to be any support services. We wanted to start an inland care and nursing agency, for the local community, to provide support and care in a friendly flexible approach. My name is Jacci Sheehy, and I have lived here in Spain with my husband and two children in El Chorro for just over a year. We run a holiday apartment and respite care unit which is specifically designed and equipped for people with disabilities. I qualified as a nurse in the UK in 1984 and specialised in the field of learning disabilities. Untill moving to Spain I worked for 26 years in the care and nursing fields, supporting people with a wide variety of disabilities. The focus of my work has always been to encourage and support people to be as independent as possible, and that is exactly what I would like to do here in Spain. Jacci and I are both still registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council in England whom we are both accountable to. Also we are members of the Royal College of Nursing.
